Doug is a data scientist with a background in economics and statistics. Being the author of this site means that in addition to writing the posts contained herein, Doug has also personally designed and executed the original works of research and analysis that make up the content of these posts, except where explicitly otherwise stated.
A strong sense of intellectual curiosity and an enjoyment of answering questions that don’t necessarily have straightforward or obvious answers are what drove him to start this research blog in 2015. This same drive has led him to attain an MS degree in Applied Economics and a certification in Data Science from a rigorous and immersive program offered by Galvanize.
His quest to find interesting questions to answer and challenges to illuminate with numbers and data have led him to call a variety of places home, from Washington D.C. to the Mid-West, to a remote fishing community in the wild state of Alaska. He currently resides in the greater Seattle area, and is actively looking for opportunities to use his skillset in a productive way to make a meaningful contribution to something bigger and more impactful than this blog.
